Music & Performance

Performances for All Grades
Students in grades K-8 participate in two major performances each year:

  • Winter Celebration: A festive event showcasing singing, dancing, and musical performances.

  • Spring Celebration: A joyful end-of-year performance.

These performances allow students to collaborate with peers and experience the excitement of performing for an audience.

Open Stage Night
In addition to formal performances, we host two "Open Stage" nights each year. These open mic-style events provide students with the opportunity to showcase their individual or group talents in a supportive environment.

Choir and Band
For students with a passion for music, we offer additional opportunities:

  • Choir: Open to grades 3-8, our choir brings students together to explore vocal performance and harmony.

  • Middle School Bands: We have three bands for middle school students, offering a chance to develop instrumental skills and perform collaboratively.

Afterschool Theater
For those interested in performance beyond music, our afterschool theater program provides a space to explore acting, storytelling, and stage presence.

Fine Arts

Art for All Grades
Visual arts play a vital role in developing creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression in our students. Visual art is integrated into every grade’s schedule, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to explore their artistic potential. Students experiment with a variety of techniques and materials, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media.

Collaborative School-wide Projects
In addition to regular art classes, GSB embraces student led art initiatives through pop-up school-wide projects, such as collaborative murals. These projects bring students together across grade levels to create shared works of art that reflect our school’s values and creativity. Check out the mural we have hanging in our lobby!

Middle School Design Class
Starting in the 2025/2026 school year, middle school students will take their artistic exploration further with the launch of a design class. This course will focus on principles of design, innovation, and problem-solving, blending art with practical applications to inspire future creators and thinkers.

Annual Visual Arts Exhibition
Each spring, GSB hosts a Visual Arts Exhibition, a celebration of our young artists’ hard work. This event showcases artwork from all grades, giving students the opportunity to turn our whole school into an art gallery.
