This International #HolocaustRemembranceDay, our teachers led discussions by reading books like "Whoever You Are" and sharing firsthand accounts from Holocaust survivors. Students reflected on embracing differences and explored how prejudice and misinformation contributed to the events that made the Holocaust possible. By remembering the past, we encourage students to step into another’s shoes and embrace kindness, tolerance, and respect to help shape a better present and future. . . . #weremember #nycschools

In our classrooms, we reflected on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s transformative leadership in the Civil Rights Movement and his unwavering commitment to racial equality and social justice through nonviolent resistance. Our teachers discuss these complex issues in an age appropriate way so that our students can be informed and active citizens of the world. The @amnh invited our teachers for an exclusive sneak peek of their newest exhibit, the Apex Stegosaurus fossil. Robert Benson, the museum’s Macaulay Curator of Dinosaur Paleobiology, shared the history of the towering Stegosaurus, which lived 150 million years ago, and discussed some of the museum's ongoing dinosaur research.
