Anna Fischl German Preschool Assistant Teacher
I was born and raised in Vienna, Austria, and recently moved to New York with my family. I have a background in Cultural and Social Anthropology and have spent many years working in educational, community-based, healthcare, and international environments. As a mother to a young daughter myself, I deeply value creating warm, supportive, and joyful spaces where children feel safe, curious, and encouraged to grow.
My experience working with children began through supporting a community kindergarten initiative in Tanzania, where I assisted with daily classroom routines, creative learning activities, and community outreach. I also worked with primary school children in Vienna through tutoring and summer activities at a local neighborhood center (Nachbarschaftszentrum), which gave me the opportunity to support children from diverse cultural and social backgrounds in both learning and play-based settings.
After moving to New York, one of my first community experiences was volunteering with the Office of Assembly Member Brian Cunningham in Brooklyn, where I supported community outreach events and public service initiatives and gained valuable insight into local community engagement in NYC.
In addition to my work in education and community programs, I have also worked in multicultural and international environments, including diplomatic and healthcare settings in Vienna. These experiences strengthened my communication skills, adaptability, and appreciation for diverse communities and perspectives.
I enjoy working in inclusive, multicultural environments and believe strongly in kindness, creativity, communication, and culturally responsive learning. I’m very excited to be part of the GSB community and to learn and grow together with the children, families, and team!
