Dariana Solorzano
Spanish Preschool Teacher
I’m a passionate educator with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from City College and an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from BMCC. I hope to continue my education and pursue a Master’s degree in the future as I continue to grow both personally and professionally as an educator.
My love for teaching began long before I stepped into my first classroom. Growing up, I was fortunate to have teachers who made me feel cared for, supported, and valued. They showed me just how meaningful a teacher’s presence can be in a child’s life, and that is something I strive to bring into my classroom every day. For me, teaching is about creating a space where children feel safe to be themselves, explore, make mistakes, learn, and grow.
I believe children learn best when they feel loved, understood, encouraged, and genuinely excited to come to school. My goal is to create a classroom that feels warm, welcoming, and comfortable—a place where every child feels seen, supported, and encouraged to be curious and confident in who they are.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, but when I was 10 years old, my family and I moved to Guatemala, where I spent five years attending middle school and part of high school. Living there gave me a deeper connection to my culture and language and shaped the way I see the world. When I returned to New York in 2015, I finished high school and continued my education, eventually earning both of my degrees and beginning my journey as an educator.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy working out, reading, taking time for self-care, coloring, shopping, exploring new places, and spending quality time with my loved ones.
Since joining GSB in 2025, I have felt especially honored to be part of the school’s growth as its first Spanish immersion preschool teacher. Having the opportunity to help build and grow the Spanish immersion program from the beginning is something I truly value. I’m grateful to be part of this exciting chapter and to contribute to creating a meaningful, nurturing experience for our students and their families. I look forward to continuing to grow alongside my students, colleagues, and the GSB community.
