Ebru Kara
Grade 2 Class Teacher,
German Subjects
I was born and raised in a multicultural and multilingual environment in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, known for its rich cultural diversity and vibrant community. After earning my teaching degree from the universities of Frankfurt a.M. and Siegen, majoring in Mathematics, Physics, and Educational Sciences, I embarked on a diverse teaching journey.
My teaching career spans various grades and subjects, including Mathematics and Physics to middle school students and English and German subjects to bilingual lower school students in Germany and at GSB. In addition, I have gained experience teaching outside my main fields, such as History and Biology in middle school. I also hold a DaF and DaZ (Deutsch als Fremdsprache und Zweitsprache) certification, which has deepened my understanding of language acquisition and multilingual education.
From the beginning, enriching my students’ understanding and fostering connections with people from diverse backgrounds has been a priority. I believe this is one of an individual’s most valuable assets in an increasingly global setting, particularly in New York.
In my teaching, I combine a classical hands-on approach inspired by Montessori principles with forward-looking methods that integrate digital tools and the possibilities of artificial intelligence. This balance allows students to develop creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a way that is both grounded and future-oriented.
I am excited to continue shaping learning experiences at GSB that prepare students for tomorrow while fostering curiosity and confidence.
