We are seeking a Lower School ELA Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. This teacher will be responsible for delivering a rich, engaging English Language Arts program that supports literacy development, critical thinking, and a love of reading and writing in a bilingual learning environment. Role may also include other lower school disciplines such as social studies, math, and science.

Start Date: Aug 1, 2026

Salary Range: $65000 - $95000

Responsibilities

  • Design and teach developmentally appropriate English Language Arts instruction aligned with GSB’s inquiry-based curriculum

  • Foster strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills across a range of genres

  • Collaborate closely with grade-level teaching teams, including partner language teachers, to support bilingual and interdisciplinary learning

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners including emergent English language learners

  • Assess and document student progress and communicate effectively with families

  • Create a warm, inclusive classroom culture that supports social-emotional learning

  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

  • Experience teaching English/Language Arts/Literacy in the lower school grades

  • Familiarity with inquiry-based, student-centered, or progressive education models

  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills

  • Commitment to collaboration and reflective teaching practice

  • Experience in bilingual or multicultural settings is a plus
