Parents Association

Kaeppler is the President of the Parent Association and has been actively involved with the school since 2019. She is the proud mother of two children; a GSB 7th grader and a Murrow High School 10th grader. Originally from the United States, Kaeppler and her husband Sebastian, (a class parent!), a native of Hannover, Germany, met in 2002 and she has adopted the German language and culture ever since. With a background spanning over 20 years in corporate finance, marketing, and employee benefits, she transitioned into real estate, focusing on helping local families in Brooklyn find their ideal homes. In her seventh year serving on the Parent Association board, Kaeppler is extremely committed to supporting the school community and fostering connections among families.

Miriam is the proud parent of two GSB students, Anahita in Grade 5 and Anousheh in Grade 2.

A Maryland native, Miriam attended the German International School of Washington, DC, where she developed a lifelong appreciation for the power of community and multilingual education. Growing up speaking Farsi and later studying French and Arabic, languages and cross-cultural connection have remained a central part of her life and career, including roles with the U.S. Foreign Service and international organizations.

Miriam and her husband, Till (a class parent!), moved their family to Brooklyn in 2021, drawn in part by the vibrant and welcoming GSB community. She is now in her second year serving on the Parents Association Board, where she brings her own experience with language immersion education and a strong belief in the importance of meaningful connections between families and the school. She is excited to help strengthen those connections and contribute to the wonderful community that makes GSB so special.

I am father of Bernie (Grade 5), Fritz (Grade 2) and a newborn!

Born and raised in Stuttgart Germany, moved to NY in 2008. At first I was class parent for our first two years at GSB and then joined the PA board last school year. I work in financial services, love soccer and playing the piano.

Diana is a proud parent of a 6th and 2nd grader at GSB. As a native New Yorker, she has always loved learning different languages and now has a very multicultural household blending in French, English, Cantonese and German. Through her work with non-profits, she enjoys working with people who are committed to building a strong community and supporting each other.

Hannah joined the Parent Association in 2026. A Boston native raised in Oxford, Palo Alto, then Seoul, she moved to New York for her doctorate in neuroscience, then made the city home after meeting Topher. Together they have a daughter in the first grade and Topher acts like he is, too. She is Korean by heritage but drinks beer like a German!

Katherina joined the PA Board in 2026. After two years as class parent, she is now taking on the role as class parent coordinator for the PA. Katherina is the proud mother of three kids at GSB (1st, 5th and 8th grade). She moved with her family to Brooklyn in 2024 after having lived and worked in Switzerland, Greece, Ireland, England and Germany. As a coach she now supports ambitious, high-achieving mothers to find harmony between a busy family and high-pressure work life.
